FootballBarcelona Agrees To Long Term Deal With Defender Amid Man City Interest
- Barcelona are hoping to secure their immediate future amid their financial struggles
- The Catalan giants have recently agreed to a new contract with their rising defender
- European clubs including Manchester City have recently courted a few Barca players
Barcelona have been working diligently to ensure the immediate future of their players, seemingly hoping to avoid transfer speculation or uncertainty about switching to other clubs.
Having in their ranks a few of football’s most prized youngsters, including Lamine Yamal and Pablo Gavi, the Catalan club appear to be leaving nothing to chance.
This is clear after they agreed to a new contract with one of their newest stars, who recently burst onto the scene.
After penning a new deal with Spanish wonderkid, Yamal, a report from football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, has stated the Catalan giants have agreed on a long-term contract with Alejandro Balde.
The Spanish defender, who is a product of La Blaugrana's La Masia youth setup, enjoyed a fine breakthrough campaign with Barcelona in the 2022/23 season.
The 19-year-old, who was an understudy to first-team full-back, Jordi Alba, was able to convince manager, Xavi Hernandez, to take a punt on him.
Very early in the campaign, Balde replaced his senior as the starting left-back for Barcelona and he has not looked back.
Balde attracts interest from City
Meanwhile, Manchester City have shown interest in Barcelona’s Balde and have also taken steps to sign him, according to reports from Mundo Deportivo.
The publication stated the UEFA Champions League winners had made an offer for the 19-year-old but he is reportedly not interested in joining the Premier League.
However, it is believed the details of the offer from Man City include a salary much higher than what the Catalans are able to offer Balde if he is to sign an extension.
