Cassius Mailula could be the next South African to ply his trade in Major League Soccer.
The Mamelodi Sundowns’ youngster had an impressive debut season in the first team and has now attracted interest from abroad.
The club took to social media to confirm they were in talks with a North American football club interested in acquiring the player.
Sundowns did not name the team interested in his services but promised to make further announcements as matters progressed.
While the club didn’t reveal the club’s name, iDiski Times have. The publication reported the Major League Soccer side in question is Toronto FC.
The publication also noted that the Reds previously showed interest in the youngster and recently returned with an improved offer for the player.
With Mailula also attracting interest from European clubs, Toronto is desperate to secure his signature.
Mailula’s impressive showings for Sundowns
Having joined the Sundowns Academy at 13, Mailula has progressed through the ranks at the club and was finally given his chance to shine in the first team last season.
As noted by Transfermarkt, he made 31 appearances for the DStv Premiership side last season, scoring 15 goals and notching up four assists.
