A technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation, Augustine Eguavoen, has disclosed that Randy Waldrum has tendered an apology for his comments against the body.
The Super Falcons coach earlier blasted NFF officials and questioned what happened to the funds released to the federation by FIFA ahead of the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
The American tactician claimed that the money was meant for the team to prepare for the tournament but that it had been diverted.
According to Eguavoen, the gaffer has apologised for his comments. Eguavoen also said that it is time to focus on the forthcoming tournament.
The American had questioned the NFF’s accountability, claiming that the football house diverted money meant for the competition.
Eguavoen said, via Complete Sports:
“I am not comfortable with what I’ve been reading. I spoke with him. He apologized, he said he didn’t mean it that way.
“He felt if he speaks with a couple of people things will change, but it is not like that here, Nigeria is different, and Africa is different.
“But we have to do the right thing now, I’ve told him to just remain focused and forget about every other thing.
“Then as soon as the World Cup ends, we know what to do because everything coming up every now and then is a distraction for him and the team.”
