According to the Daily Express, Alcaraz stunned the 23-time grand slam champion 1-6, 7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 as the Spaniard showcased his resilience after a bad start and battled his way back to secure an amazing win.

The 20-year-old slumped to the court after Djokovic's final forehand dropped into the net before sharing a long embrace with the vanquished Serb in what was a historic win.

Aged 20 years 72 days, Alcaraz becomes the third youngest player in the Open era to win the Wimbledon men’s singles title after Boris Becker and Bjorn Borg.

How Real Madrid stars reacted

Many Real Madrid stars, both past and present, such as Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Vinicius Jr have congratulated Carlos Alcaraz on his Wimbledon victory, First Sportz reports.

Veteran midfielder Luka Modric wrote on social media:

“What a phenomenal achievement, Carlos Alcaraz! Your relentless determination and passion for the game are truly admirable. Congratulations on conquering Wimbledon! #Respect”

Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr. congratulated him on Instagram:

Ex-Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos also posted on his personal Instagram account:

Young Alcaraz promised Wimbledon title

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Carlos Alcaraz shocked the favourite Novak Djokovic by coming from a set down to secure his first-ever Grand Slam title at Wimbledon.

This victory on Centre Court marked Djokovic's first defeat in a five-set match since the 2019 French Open, further underlining the magnitude of Alcaraz's achievement.

As a poignant moment following his success, old footage resurfaced, showing Alcaraz expressing his dream of winning Wimbledon when he was just a 12-year-old boy.
