Arsenal’s bid to sign Xavi Simons this summer has hit a massive roadblock as the Netherlands youngster is set to complete a sensational return to Paris Saint-Germain.
The 20-year-old, who has been on the Gunners transfer wishlist, will leave the PSV Eindhoven after one season as PSG have activated their option to buy him back at a cut price.
According to Goal, Simons has left PSV's training camp and will join up with his PSG teammates as he awaits news on his future after the Ligue 1 champions triggered his €6m buy-back clause.
The Netherlands international initially joined PSG from Barcelona in 2019 but only featured for the Parisians 11 times before joining PSV last summer.
Simons would then excel with PSV, as he scored 19 goals and set up a further eight in 34 Eredivisie appearances to attract the interest of Arsenal and PSG this summer.
PSG to loan Simons again
Meanwhile, Xavi Simons could be sent on loan straightaway by Paris Saint-Germain when he completes his move to the French champions from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, Caught Offside reports.
The 20-year-old forward will only stay at PSG this season if the Ligue 1 club successfully offloads either Kylian Mbappe or Neymar this summer.
PSG are keen to offload Mbappe so as not to lose the 24-year-old for free next summer after he informed the Parisians he has no intention of extending his deal at the club while Neymar has been linked with a move away this summer.
