Ilkay Gundogan hopes to leave a lasting legacy at Barcelona as the German midfielder has admitted that was one of the key reasons he signed for the Catalan giants.
The German midfielder ended his seven-year stint with Manchester City after a trophy-laden career in England to pair up with Barcelona as a free agent.
According to Goal, Gundogan has now explained that he is excited to link up with such a young squad at Barcelona and is aiming to help the likes of Gavi, Pedri, and Ansu Fati reach their full potential.
"I expect great football, I think there's a lot of potential in the team, we have a very young squad and I hope that I can, with my experience, help the younger players to bring them to the next level.
“I think the base is there, the potential is there, we just need to show it next season and that's why I came, that's why I joined. I'm full of motivation and dedication."
Gundogan has won league titles in both England and Germany and will look to add the Spanish top flight to his collection of trophies.

Meanwhile, Ilkay Gundogan has admitted to being a Barcelona fan after claiming he has kept tabs on the Catalans under the era of Frank Rijkaard and Pep Guardiola as a kid growing up, Sportskeeda reports.
Gundogan will begin a new phase of his career with the reigning La Liga champions following the completion of his move from Manchester City as a free agent this summer.

FootballEarlier, Sports Brief reported Ilkay Gundogan joined La Liga champions, Barcelona, on a free transfer after capturing a European treble in his final year at the Etihad Stadium.
The former Manchester City captain has also secured a reported £7.7 million insurance policy should Barcelona’s financial troubles stop him from playing this season.
Gundogan will not take a risk and has a special clause inserted in his contract that could see him depart Barcelona if the club is not able to register him due to any financial problems.
