Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has weighed in on Kylian Mbappe's links to Real Madrid. The French and Paris Saint-Germain superstar has been heavily linked with the Spanish giants for months, and multiple reports have indicated he could be sold this summer.

Sanchez termed the transfer saga as a "soap opera" as Madrid try and lure arguably the best player in the world to Spain.

In an interview with Marca, Sanchez is astonished by Mbappe's indecisiveness about his future which has dominated the summer transfer window.

"Is Mbappé coming or not? You know it the best, what a soap opera. I think Mbappé himself doesn't know what to do, if he wants to join Madrid or not," via Madrid Xtra.

Real Madrid are looking to replace Karim Benzema, who left the club at the end of last season, and Mbappe's star power would fit perfectly with Madrid, who are known to sign the best players in the world.

Will Mbappe leave PSG?

In June, the World Cup winner sent a letter to the club telling them he would not extend his contract. He declined to trigger a clause that would extend his deal to the summer of 2025. His current deal expires next summer, and if PSG doesn't sell him, he would walk for free.

He also affirmed his commitment to the French giants, terming links to Real Madrid as lies. During the presentation of new boss Luis Enrique, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi Mbappe has to sign a new deal.

"My position is very clear. I don't want to repeat it every time: if Kylian wants to stay, we want him to stay. But he needs to sign a new contract. We don't want to lose the best player in the world for free. We can't do that. This is a French club," via SkySports.

Only a few clubs can afford to buy the French forward. A move to Saudi Arabia is unlikely. Real Madrid seems like a potential destination.

Ex EPL star blasts Mbappe

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Mbappe’s recent outburst against Paris Saint-Germain has not gone down well with former Italian and West Ham United player Paolo Di Canio, who has criticized the forward.

In a recent interview, the 2022 World Cup Golden Boot winner took shots at the club as the fallout of his decision not to activate a contract extension clause with the Ligue 1 champions continues to rain down.

Di Canio has now labeled Mbappe as 'indecent and disrespectful' towards the Parisians, who have reportedly informed the forward he must extend his deal or be sold this summer.
