  • Arsenal have officially unveiled Declan Rice after a long wait
  • The midfielder links up with the Gunners for a British record transfer fee
  • He was unveiled with a Nigerian hit song named after him by Odumodublvck

Arsenal fans can be at peace now after the club finally confirmed the signing of English midfielder Declan Rice from West Ham for a club-record fee and the highest paid for a British player, with some bit of spice as his unveiling features a Nigerian song named after him.

Rice emerged as a priority for Arsenal after they failed in their pursuit of Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo in January after Brighton rejected multiple bids up to £70m.

West Ham chairman David Sullivan confirmed the player would depart after helping the club to win the UEFA Europa Conference League and slapped an asking price of £110m on him, but The Athletic reports that the deal was sealed for a guaranteed £100m plus £5m in add-ons, though the East London club stated it was more.

Despite an agreement over two weeks ago and the player's presence at London Colney for his medicals, an official announcement was delayed, and it was claimed that drafting the final paperwork was the reason for the long wait.

Arsenal unveil Rice with Nigerian song

Nigerian artiste Odumodublvck released a viral hit song titled 'Declan Rice', this was used in the players' unveiling in a show of trend and creativity by the club.

The artiste and the player met in London after the song went viral and caught the England international's attention.

Arsenal beat Manchester City to the 24-year-old's signing. However, British broadcaster Eniola Aluko argued against City's interest and claimed it was not genuine and only a ploy to get Arsenal to pay up.

Rice will wear the number 41 jersey after the club broke an unwritten rule to hand him the number he wore at his former club, with defender Ben White occupying number 4, another one he could have taken up.

He will join the rest of the squad for their pre-season tour of the United States, having missed the 1-1 draw against Bundesliga 2 side Nuremberg.

Rice trains with unlikely partners

Sports Brief reported that Rice was spotted training in Portugal with unlikely partners in Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes and AC Milan's Rafael Leao.

The former Chelsea Academy star had fans wondering how the linkup happened. It appears he was also growing weary of the delay, and the incident debunked claims he was on the plane to Germany while waiting for his move to be official.
