According to The Mirror, the former Tottenham Hotspur ace has since opened up on his struggles and even reflected on his traumatic childhood with his birth family before he was adopted as a teenager.

Speaking to Neville on The Overlap, Alli narrated a harrowing account of how he was molested as a six-year-old boy, adding that his birth mother battled an alcohol addiction.

"It is something I haven't really spoken about. There were a few instances. At six, I was molested," the forward revealed, leaving Neville in tears.

Alli's partner shows support

The Everton star's partner, Cindy Kimberely, has now added her voice to the midfielder's emotional interview with the Man United legend.

Cindy took to Instagram in the wake of the interview and posted:

"Proud of you."
"So proud of Dele," she added in a follow-on post to her IG stories.

Cindy and Alli have reportedly been dating since last summer.

Meanwhile, the Englishman has since returned to Everton for pre-season as he hopes to get his football career back on track.

Alli on childhood challenges

Sports Brief earlier reported that Dele Alli is the man of the moment after he boldly opened up on the challenges of his childhood and football career over the past four years, which have seen him lose touch with what he loves.

Alli, without a doubt, was one of the best English prospects over the last ten years when he came into the limelight at Tottenham, but it did not take long before things went downhill.

He has now recognised that one of the first steps to rediscovering himself is opening up, admitting his struggles, and seeking help, all of which he is doing simultaneously.
