Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has backed Mason Mount to succeed at Manchester United following his sensational summer move.
Mount swapped the Blues for United after talks over a contract renewal at Stamford Bridge reportedly broke down.
The star midfielder had a year left on his deal with Chelsea prior to his switch to Old Trafford and was expected to pen a renewal.
According to Metro UK, the Red Devils splashed £60m to acquire the services of the England international, with the fee paid making him the sixth most expensive signing at the Theatre of Dreams.
Incidentally, Mount is also United's first signing of the summer as the club pushes to strengthen their squad in preparation for next season.
Lampard backs Mount to succeed
Lampard, who played a crucial role in helping Mount break into the Chelsea first team, has now sent United a message about the midfielder.
Speaking on The Diary of a CEO podcast, the legendary midfielder described his former player as a 'great signing' for the Red Devils, tipping him to succeed at the club.
"So in terms of what he’ll bring to Manchester United, it won’t just be what Mason brings, he will bring loads of talent, but he’s just going to go [up] and [raise] levels," Lampard said.
"Don’t get me wrong, the bar raise is already there with Bruno Fernandes, [Marcus] Rashford, Casemiro… he will absolutely fit in with it," he continued.
