Portuguese manager, Jose Mourinho delivered a special warning to Dele Alli about wasting his potential.
Amazon Prime released a video in September 2020 showing Mourinho having a one-on-one conversation with the England international.
It was an episode of the All or Nothing show by Tottenham Hotspur which offered an insight into the activities of the North London club.
A scene showed Mourinho sitting Dele Alli down, with the manager demanding more from the player.
Mourinho said:
"I've noticed that you have ups and downs. There's a big difference from a player who maintains consistency and a player who has moments and that's what makes the difference between a top, top player and a player with great potential.
"Time flies and one day you will regret it, if you don't reach what I think you can reach."
And two years later, Alli moved to Everton, where he managed just 13 league games, and his poor performances caused the Toffees to send him on loan to Turkish club Besiktas.
That reflected Mourinho’s practical warning, as it eventually came true for such a promising talent, Marca reports.
Alli, who has already featured for several England Youth teams, was also a key member of the Three Lions, playing 37 matches between 2015 and 2019.
During the manager’s chit-chat with the player, Alli looked uninterested as Mourinho urged him to look inward and analyse himself.
What Mourinho said to Alli
"From the beginning, I had no doubts about your potential. I've seen you play incredible games and do incredible things, but I've always noticed that you have ups and downs.
