  • Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly looking to make a major summer window clearout at the club
  • With players returning for pre-season, Georginio Wijnaldum is training away from the main group
  • The former Liverpool midfielder is expected to be sold this summer along with a number of others

Paris Saint-Germain appears to have two sets of training groups: those who are expected to be sold and the main group under new manager, Luis Enrique.

Former Liverpool midfielder, Georginio Wijnaldum, will be among the players separated from the main group. The Dutch international returns following a frustrating loan spell with Italian side, AS Roma.

The 32-year-old made 23 appearances across all competitions for Roma in the 2022/23 season since joining on loan from the French giants.

He missed over five months of action after a fractured tibia sustained shortly after making his Serie A debut.

The Italian side reportedly had the option to make Wijnaldum’s loan deal permanent for a fee of €8 million in the summer, but his wages were a stumbling block.

He was a regular for the French giants in the 2021/22 season, but with Enrique's arrival, his future with the club is in doubt, per Get Football News.

With the PSG's signing of Manuel Ugarte, as Sports Brief reported, competition in the middle of the park will be difficult.

Who else has PSG ostracised?

Layvin Kurzawa, who returns from a disappointing loan spell at Premier League side Fulham, will not train with the main group and is expected to be sold. He has been with the club since 2015 and has one year left on his deal.

Édouard Michut, as well as Vimoj Muntu Wa Mungu and Nehemiah Fernandez-Veliz, are reportedly part of the same group.

Brazil superstar, Neymar, was seen at the club's training ground on July 10, taking part in medical examinations and physical tests. However, the club hasn't posted pictures of the 31-year-old in training with the rest of the squad.

It is possible he will join Wijnaldum’s training group as he eases his way back following an injury that forced him to miss most of the second half of the season.

Moreover, he has been linked with a move away from the club. Reports emerged this week that Neymar was offered to Barcelona. He still has two years left on his contract at PSG, per Transfermarkt.

Depay, Wijnaldum meet Chief Imam

Sports Brief also reported on Memphis Depay and Wijnaldum visiting Ghana's national Chief Imam, Sheik Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, following their visit to the country.

The Atletico Madrid and AS Roma players recently arrived in the west African country for the summer off-season holidays after a long term with their respective clubs.

The former Manchester United forward and his national teammate were at the residence of Chief Imam, who also blessed the star footballer duo with Islamic prayers.
