There’s no denying that Siphiwe Tshabalala is a true South African icon.
The former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs star made many people happy during his time as a player, and now he’s doing the same off the field of play as well.
As noted by Soccer Laduma, Shabba recently helped ease the winter woes of many by donating 100 blankets.
Tshabala donates blankets to teams
Shabba’s foundation, the Siphiwe Tshabala Foundation, received the blankets from Sesli Blankets and donated them to teams camping at Khotso Primary School.
Khotso Sports grounds in Soweto is the venue for the Siphiwe Tshabalala Foundation Soccer Tournament, another of the former player’s initiatives.
The tournament is open to teams from across South Africa, both male and female between the ages of 15 and 20. The tournament aims to provide a platform for the players to showcase their talents, Media Update reported.
The tournament was first played in 2013.
What Tshabala's foundation does
Shabba’s foundation doesn’t only help develop young footballers, as the former player has also used it to help those in need.
As noted by Diski 365, the foundation was in Kwa-Zulu Natal last year with food parcels and blankets for families affected by floods that ripped through the province.
Verulam and Isithokosizo Primary were just two places they visited during their donation drive.
