England great blames Cristiano Ronaldo for Jadon Sancho flopping at Man United
FootballAndre Onana: Ten Hag Confirms Academy Goalie Option if Man Utd Fails to Land Inter Star
- Manchester United's interest in Andre Onana has slowed down in the past few days
- Inter Milan are unwilling to listen to offers outside of their €60 million valuation of the Cameroonian
- The Italians are increasingly open to keeping their goalkeeper if their asking price is not met
Manchester United could be forced to look inwards for an alternative if they cannot sign goalkeeper, Andre Onana from Inter Milan this summer.
Onana remains Manchester United's priority target in goal as Erik ten Hag hopes to secure a ball-playing goalie who would help his style of playing out from the back.
Former goalkeeper David De Gea, who was heavily criticised for his lack of footwork, announced his departure from the club on Saturday after 12 years after becoming a free agent on June 30.
Di Marzio reports that Nerazzurri have given United the next 24 hours to make a definitive offer, or the Cameroonian will join pre-season training and rule out any move for the moment.
Ten Hag considers Henderson
Erik ten Hag guided United to their first pre-season win over Leeds United yesterday in Norway and spoke on the goalkeeper conundrum, not failing to rule out Dean Henderson becoming number 1 next season.
“Of course. I followed him through the whole of last season. Of course, goalkeeper is a key position, but I'm happy with the players we have now. You never know with transfers, but we’re working on it,” he said, via Mirror UK.
A new look 11 in the second half, featuring eight academy stars, secured a 2-0 win for the Red Devils, with goals from Noam Emeran and Joe Hugill sealing the win.
The game against Leeds has made fans clamour for young goalkeeper, Matej Kovar to be the backup after he impressed in his 45 minutes on the pitch.
Other alternatives to Onana
Sports Brief reported that United have two alternatives to Onana if the deal proves too expensive and they walk away.
Feyenoord's Justin Bijlow and Eintracht Frankfurt's Kevin Trapp are two options to consider, both of whom would cost less than half of what Inter are demanding for the former Ajax goalkeeper.
