FootballMason Greenwood Spotted with Man United Star Amid Uncertainty Over His Career
- Mason Greenwood continues to keep fit despite uncertainty over his future
- The striker was spotted with a Manchester United teammate in his latest training session
- Greenwood has not played professionally since getting suspended in January 2022
Mason Greenwood is training with a Manchester United player as he continues to step up his fitness ahead of a possible return to football.
The young striker was pictured training with Anthony Elanga, leading to speculation that he could make a bounce back at Old Trafford.
Greenwood and Elanga were also in the company of 19-year-old Irish star, James Abankwah, who plays for Udinese in the Italian Serie A.
As reported by The Sun, Elanga is yet to return to training with the rest of the team at Carrington, where several United youngsters and non-internationals have resumed training with Erik ten Hag.
Despite charges against him getting dropped, Greenwood remains suspended by Manchester United, but Express Sport reports that ten Hag is reluctant to sell the forward.
He is still contracted at United until 2025, and his contract has a clause to extend the deal for a further year.
This will likely open plausible loan moves for Greenwood, who has a number of suitors, particularly in Italy.
Meanwhile, ten Hag has taken his squad to Oslo in preparation for pre-season fixtures before the start of the new league campaign.
Before embarking on a tour of the United States, United will first face French side Lyon in a friendly in Edinburgh.
Man United drop Greenwood shirts
Sports Brief also reported on Manchester United’s decision to drop Mason Greenwood’s shirts from their official kit launch for the 2023/24 season.
This means supporters will not be able to get a shirt with Greenwood's name on the back after it was omitted from the launch.
All other names from the senior men's and women's sides are available, but Greenwood is not included.
