In football, it is practically impossible to succeed without a potent attack, as a deadly forward line will almost guarantee goals in the long run.

For some teams in the Premier League, they have been lucky enough to have duos who have had undeniable chemistry - the result is goals and assists between them.

From veteran strikers like Thierry Henry to modern marksmen like Harry Kane, these players have reached the pinnacle of the game thanks to some deadly partners up-front.

Some ask who are among the most lethal duos in the English top flight.

Sports Brief takes a look at some Premier League duos, past and present, who have had the most goal contributions between them, as cited by the BBC.

10. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane

On their day, these two African players were unstoppable for Liverpool. They first appeared together on the pitch in 2017, going on to form a deadly partnership with Roberto Firmino up front.

In total, Salah and Mane combined for 22 goal contributions in the Premier League.

10. Alan Shearer and Nolberto Solano

This duo are for the mature fans in football.

Back in his Newcastle days, the Premier League’s all-time goal-scorer, Shearer, partnered with Solano up-front and the pair combined for 22 goal contributions.

7 Robbie Fowler and Steve MacManaman

In seventh place is another Liverpool duo, but a duo that goes way back in time. Fowler and McManaman were deadly in the 1990s, combining for a total of 24 goals.

7. Freddie Ljungberg and Thierry Henry

The Frenchman and the Swedish international enjoyed an eight-year spell at Arsenal and together, the pair combined for 24 goals in total as Henry transitioned into a traditional number 9 from the wing.

He features much higher up on this list with another forward partner at the Gunners.

6. Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino

The legendary modern Liverpool front three that won the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League also included Firmino.

While he was more of a provider, he had a knack of scoring goals that were assisted by Salah. Together, the duo combined for 25 goals.

5. Darren Anderton and Teddy Sheringham

These two are the first of two Tottenham duos on this list.

Anderton had injury problems, but that never stopped him from forming an interesting partnership in north London with former United man - Sheringham - and the two had an impressive 27 goal combinations.

3. Robert Pires and Thierry Henry

Henry makes a second appearance on the list thanks to his formidable partnership with fellow Frenchman, Robert Pires.

At Arsenal, the two players who were part of the 2003 Invincibles squad and combined for 29 goals before Pires moved to Villarreal in 2006.

3. David Silva and Sergio Aguero

In his successful Manchester City stint, Aguero will largely have Silva to thank as the Spaniard always had a habit of providing him with crucial passes that begged to be converted to goals.

'Kun' also had his moments and this duo also combined for 29 goals.

1. Heung Min Son and Harry Kane

Interestingly, the number one spot belongs to two players who have combined a devastating number of times without winning any silverware as at June 2023.

England's Kane and South Korea's Heung Min Son have 47 goal combinations among themselves, making them the most lethal partnership in Premier League history.

What’s interesting is the fact that the two are likely to increase this tally, if the Three Lions captain somehow manages to stay at Tottenham for the upcoming season.

Mount among United priciest signings

Sports Brief also reported on the most expensive signings in Manchester United history, with new star, Mason Mount, joining the top 10.

The England international swapped Chelsea for the Red Devils this summer in a deal believed to be worth an eyewatering £60 million.

Despite the huge transfer fee paid by Man United to acquire Mount, the midfielder is still not among the top five most expensive stars.
