Former Arsenal striker Nwankwo Kanu is now the Chairman of Enyimba FC

The Super Eagles legend has been urged by Governor Otti to help the team with his experience

Super Eagles legend Nwankwo Kanu has finally been confirmed as the new Chairman of Nigerian Professional Football League side, Enyimba FC, replacing Felix Anyansi-Agwu who led the Aba club for 24 years.

In the history of Nigerian football, Felix Anyansi-Agwu is the most successful club chairman considering how he won nine League titles and two CAF Champions League during his reign.

Many former Super Eagles players like Obinna Nsofor, Dele Aiyenugba, and Vincent Enyeama played under Felix Anyansi-Agwu at Enyimba.

Governor Alex Otti dissolved the Enyimba board days after they won the 2023 Nigerian League title.

According to reports in the Guardian and Daily Post, Kanu has been enjoined by Governor Otti to make sure that Enyimba wins more titles in the coming years.

Kanu to work with Finidi

Kanu Nwankwo will work with his Ajax Amsterdam former teammate, Finidi George, who is the club’s coach. Both players were part of Louis van Gaal’s team that won the UEFA Champions League in 1995.

These two stars were also superb in the Super Eagles during their days. Kanu played 86 games for the Super Eagles netting 12 goals.

Finidi George on the other hand featured in 62 games scoring six goals.

Kanu acts as bus conductor

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Super Eagles legend, Nwankwo Kanu essentially became a bus conductor while conveying players of his football academy to their training ground.

The video has since gone viral on social media, with fans all having their say.

Kanu, a former Arsenal striker, is among the biggest players from the African continent considering the Gunners won the Premier League title with him on the team.

Since his retirement from football, he has been involved in the full running of his charity organization and is also into football administration.
