FootballTaiwo Awoniyi Names the Former Man United Star He Will Miss at Nottingham Forest
Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has stated emphatically that he will miss former Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard at Nottingham Forest following the exit of the former England international.
Forest escaped relegation last season from the Premier League with Awoniyi playing a significant role in helping the club to maintain its status in the English topflight.
After the season, Lingard was one of the players announced to leave after the expiration of his contract.
Lingard is reported to be currently training at Inter Miami ahead of a possible move to another club this summer.
According to the report on Soccernet, Awoniyi who scored 10 Premier League goals last season disclosed that Lingard remains his close friend.
Awoniyi hails Jesse Lingard
“To be honest, I think he is someone we are going to really miss because we all see just only the weekends. But imagine being the club that we all have turned families. We see each other every day, so he is no more like just a friend. For me, this is how I see it, because you have to see the same person every day, consistently for maybe one year or thereabout, and the same goes for him.
“For me, I used to call him a big player because he is a big player, because of what he has done and with what he is doing. And with the vibes he brings. He used to call me and [Emmanuel] Dennis ‘My Super Eagle’. He is just someone that is fun to be with, very easy, very friendly, and this is the part where I personally will miss about him because he is someone that really took everyone closer to him.''
Awoniyi worked as a bricklayer
Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Taiwo Awoniyi revealed how tough his journey in football was years back on the streets of Ilorin in Kwara State claiming that he had to do many menial jobs for him to buy boots.
