Football2023 FIFA WWC: Bizarre Reason England Stars Wore High Tech Glasses on Flight to Australia
- England women have jetted out to Australia early to camp for the FIFA Women's World Cup
- The Lionesses will arrive at 2023 Mundial as European champions after beating Germany last year
- They have adopted high-tech glasses on their flight, and the reason has now been revealed
England women's national team took a 36 hours flight to Australia to begin camping for the 2023 Women's World Cup early. They had special equipment as part of their accessories on the flight.
The Lionesses head into the tournament as one of the favourites and as European champions after beating Germany with a late goal last year to win the Women's Euro 2022.
The English women also won the UEFA-CONMEBOL Finalissima beating Brazil 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes at Wembley Stadium.
They are drawn in Group D and will play their opening game against Haiti, while their second game will be against fellow Europeans Denmark, with the final match against China.
Why Lionesses wore special glasses
The official Lionesses Twitter confirmed the players wore Chrono glasses on their 36-hour long flight. The account uploaded two pictures of Georgia Stanway, Keira Walsh, Ellie Roebuck and Bethany England and captioned “Time for the Chrono glasses. Doing our best to beat the jet lag.”
According to Daily Star, the mystery glasses are the Netherlands-based Propeaq eyewear which costs £225 and can keep the mind and body alert at required times of the day.
The devices are USB charged and have interchangeable lenses of red and blue shades - the red promotes melatonin production to aid sleep. In contrast, blue promotes the hormone cortisol, which helps the wearer to feel more awake while adapting to a new timezone.
