Black Meteors forward, Emmanuel Yeboah, has revealed that he was inspired after Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan tweeted about him before the Africa U23 Cup of Nations.
Yeboah was by far Ghana's best player at the competition in Morocco, exiting the tournament as joint top scorer with Abdessamad Ezzalzouli.
The CFR Cluj star scored three goals and provided an assist in three matches as the Black Meteors bowed out at the group stage, missing one of the tickets to next summer's Olympic Games.
Before the tournament, Gyan had posted on Twitter that the player affectionately known as '99 ideas' is one to watch.
"I can’t wait to see Emmanuel Yeboah at the big stage, I love his passions and ability to learn all the time, am not surprised he scored 3 goals in his first start for the National Team. Wish him and the Team all the best, I also started from the Meteors. Go Ghana," wrote Gyan.
Yeboah insists that tweet kept resonating in his head, knowing he could not disappoint his idol.
"Before we started the tournament, our legend Asamoah Gyan tweeted that I should be monitored at the tournament so before going into the games, I always though I had to fulfill Gyan's comments. So I said to myself at least I had to score and provide an assist in a game," he told Saddick Adams TV.
"It's not everyone that gets the attention of a legend like Asamoah Gyan so after seeing that tweet, I felt so inspired. So I felt obligated to make him proud," he added.

Ghana exit AFCON U23
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana have been dumped out of the Africa U23 Cup of Nations after a 1-1 draw against Guinea in their final group game.
Emmanuel Yeboah's goal in the first-half was not enough as Ibrahim Fofana netted a stunning volley to send Guinea through to the semi-finals.
Following a sluggish start from both sides, it was the Guineans that came close after Ousmane Camara's goal-bound shot was stopped by his own teammate on the line.
