Ajax Amsterdam and Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar is in intensive care after suffering bleeding in his brain. The 52-year-old is currently in hospital, and his condition has been stabilized.

Van der Sar spent six years at Manchester United, where he won the Premier League and Champions League.

According to Ajax, the former goalkeeper is in stable condition, and more information will be provided.

"On Friday, Edwin van der Sar has had a bleeding around his brain. He’s currently in hospital in the intensive care unit and is in a stable condition."

He reportedly was in Croatia when he was admitted to the hospital. United sent him a message of support on Twitter.

"Sending all our love and strength to you, Edwin."

Van der Sar retired from football after leaving United in 2011. He played 266 times for the Red Devils, per Transfermarkt.

The former Netherlands goalkeeper was the chief executive for Ajax, a position he held since 2016 before leaving last season. He was on Ajax's board of directors since November 2012. He won 130 caps for his country.

Ajax celebrate Kudus

Sports Brief earlier reported on Ajax celebrating Mohammed Kudus after he won the Ghana Footballer of the Year prize at the 2023 Ghana Football Awards on June 25.

Kudus won the accolade after an outstanding season for both club and country, including scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists for the Dutch Eredivisie team.

Ajax immediately took to social media to celebrate the talented midfielder, who could leave the Netherlands in the summer transfer window.
