FootballDele Alli: Everton Star Ready to Impress Sean Dyche As He Resumes Preseason Training Early
- Dele Alli is ready to impress new Everton boss Sean Dyche ahead of the new season
- The English midfielder returned from an unsuccessful loan in Turkey with Besiktas
- Dyche helped Everton avoid relegation last summer and is willing to give Alli a chance to retrace his steps
Dele Alli's desire to rediscover himself is matching with the willingness of his manager Sean Dyche, as both have communicated a strong desire to work together in the new season.
Alli was one of England's brightest youngsters when he broke onto the scene at Tottenham in 2015 and won the Premier League Young Player of the Year award twice.
However, his career started nosediving after helping Spurs reach the 2019 UEFA Champions League final, which they lost to fellow English club Liverpool, at the Wanda Metropolitano.
He had an unsuccessful loan spell in Turkey and was banished from the Besiktas squad in April, though it was a long time coming after Senol Gunes claimed he was undeserving of playing for the club due to his worrying lack of form.
Alli resumes training early
According to Liverpool Echo, the midfielder is keen to impress Sean Dyche and was one of the first players to resume for pre-season at the club's Finch Farm training complex.
Dyche has given him the public backing necessary and will assess him as he has yet to play or train for Everton since the manager was hired in February to help avoid relegation.
"I just got a sense that he wants to be back playing football and playing well. I've heard all the noise, I've heard all the opinions, and I'm pretty sure that you're aware that I like to make my own," Dyche told the press via Mirror UK.
The former Burnley manager's opinion on the player appears to have softened after initially raising concerns about Alli's lifestyle after his loan spell in Turkey was cut short early.
Iwobi's thoughts on Alli
Ilkay Gundogan's wife hits back at claims that she persuaded Manchester City captain to join Barcelona
FootballSports Brief reported that Everton teammate Alex Iwobi blamed Alli's woes on the midfielder's attitude and work ethic, making it difficult for managers to assess him properly.
Iwobi claimed the 26-year-old is lazy in training. This comes weeks after he was pictured in bed with four women despite having just undergone hip muscle surgery.
