FIFA has ordered Cardiff to pay Sala fee, say Nantes
FootballHarry Maguire Receives Pay Rise from Man United Thus Making It Difficult to Sell Him
- Manchester United could be stuck with Harry Maguire for yet another season
- Maguire was one of the players who were on the sale list to raise funds for other players
- The captain featured only a couple of times last season in Erik ten Hag's debut campaign
Manchester United will find it hard to sell Harry Maguire this summer due to his wage demands after the defender received a pay increase.
Maguire was among the Manchester United players whose salaries were scaled upwards following their qualification to the Champions League due to a clause in their contracts.
This essentially means that United will struggle to find a club that can match Maguire's demands. As the Guardian reports, the Red Devils are keen on raising funds to finance moves for other key areas that are lacking in options.
The club is looking for a striker after Wout Weghorst was sent back to Burnley, while David de Gea's lack of contract extension so far means that they have to find a new goalkeeper.
Manchester United's transfer budget
However, Erik ten Hag's side are currently operating on a tight budget and would have to offload some players first. Maguire had been earmarked for departure, but the new salary developments will complicate issues.
The England international has fallen down the pecking order under ten Hag. The Dutch tactician prefers a centre-back pairing of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane. In the absence of one of them, Victor Lindelof always gets the nod. Ten Hag jas even preferred Luke Shaw, a left-back in the middle of defence, to Maguire.
The 30-year-old signed a seven-year contract when he joined from Leicester City. The contract expires in 2025, as captured by Sportrac.
Ten Hag plans to sell 11 players
Sports Brief has also reported that Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag has reportedly identified 11 players he wants the club to sell in order to raise money for summer transfer targets.

FootballUnited are expected to back Ten Hag significantly in terms of new signings after a successful debut season in the Premier League.
The Dutchman helped the club end their more than five-year wait for a trophy with the Carabao Cup triumph back in February and led them to a third-place finish in the standings behind Arsenal and rivals Manchester City.
