Samuel Eto'o's troubles persist as his position as the president of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) is under threat, with numerous clubs in his home country demanding his resignation.

A significant contingent of eleven members from the Association of Amateur Football Clubs in Cameroon (ACFAC), led by President M. Balla Ongolo Henri Claude, have called for Eto'o, the former Barcelona forward, to step down from his role as FECAFOOT president.

Adding to his troubles, recent news has surfaced suggesting that the four-time African Footballer of the Year could potentially face legal consequences, including the possibility of jail time, Ghanaweb reports.

The allegations stem from an alleged refusal by Eto'o to provide support for his daughter, Erika de Rosario Nieves.

Why clubs want Eto'o's resignation?

According to betatinz, Eto'o's administration has been marred by allegations of financial mismanagement and opaque handling of sponsorship contracts.

Accusations of intimidation and arbitrary exclusion of executive committee members who voiced criticism against the federation, as well as the manipulation of match results, have also been levelled against his leadership.

Moreover, stakeholders from amateur clubs have raised concerns about FECAFOOT's association with a betting company, specifically 1xbet, stating that it violates both FECAFOOT and FIFA codes of ethics.

Samuel Eto'o facing jail time

Recently, Sports Brief reported that former Barcelona forward Samuel Eto'o is potentially facing legal consequences for allegedly refusing to provide his daughter - Erika de Rosario Nieves - with a monthly allowance of €1,400 for the past five years.

Eto'o, who currently serves as the president of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), was legally recognised as the biological father of Nieves (now 24 years old) by a Madrid court last February.

Eto'o amends FECAFOOT rules

In news related to the FECAFOOT chief, Sports Brief reported that Samuel Eto'o has extended his presidency from a four-year term to a duration of seven years.

The number of years in office was earlier moved from four years to seven years, with the president having the opportunity to contest for three terms in office.
