Lionel Messi's continued rift with PSG as he advises Kylian Mbappe on what club to join
FootballHere is Why PSG Won’t Try to Sign Barcelona Players Anymore
- PSG have reportedly decided not to sign players from Barcelona
- The Ligue 1 champions completed a move for Neymar from Barca in 2017
- The Parisian club have appointed ex-Barcelona coach, Luis Enrique as new manager
There is now a "non-aggression pact" in place at Paris Saint-Germain, which effectively prevents the Qatari-backed giants from trying to sign FC Barcelona players for the foreseeable future.
The Catalan giants have never recovered from losing Neymar Junior to the Ligue 1 champions in 2017.
After joining from Santos four years earlier, the Brazilian was just beginning to reach his prime at the Camp Nou.
The 30-year-old played a crucial role in Luis Enrique's 2015 treble-winning team by scoring the goal that effectively ended Juventus' hopes of winning the Champions League final in Berlin.
Neymar was a vital component of the "MSN" trident, which also included Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, and he appeared destined to join the annals of club legends until PSG shocked the football world a few summers later by triggering his €222 million ($241 million) release clause.
Failure to replace Neymar
Former Barca president, Josep Bartomeu fluffed his lines by including such a small fee in Neymar's contract and then squandering the money on replacements like Phillipe Coutinho and Antoine Griezmann, who fell short of expectations.
Ousmane Dembele, who joined Barca around the time Neymar left, has shown promise recently. But for the Frenchman to realise his potential, it took an expired five-year contract and the direction of the current head coach, Xavi Hernandez.
PSG won't sign Barcelona players
However, according to SPORT, cited by GMS, the arrival of ex-Barca boss, Luis Enrique in the dugout "will calm the waters between both clubs after years of conflict".
As Luis Enrique works to build the foundation of a successful team while looking far away from Catalonia, the development gives the Blaugrana peace of mind knowing that players he previously managed for the Spain national team, such as Pedri and Gavi, "are in no danger of being chased after".
Enzo Fernandez sends subtle warning to Chelsea rivals ahead of Pochettino takeover
FootballOf course, speculating on how long Luis Enrique or any coach will remain in Paris remains fruitless.
But because both Spanish teenagers and Ronaldo Araujo are bound by long-term agreements, Barca at least have the assurance that they will keep them until well into their mid-20s.
Enrique named PSG coach
Meanwhile, Luis Enrique has been appointed as the new coach of PSG on a two-year deal, the French champions announced on Wednesday.
The 53-year-old, who had been a free agent since being sacked as Spain coach last December, replaces Christophe Galtier after his departure from the club was confirmed earlier in the day.
Luis Enrique was unveiled by PSG at a press conference alongside the Qatar-backed club's president, Nasser al-Khelaifi at their brand new training complex in Poissy, to the north-west of the French capital.
