  • Carlo Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid to become Brazil’s new manager from 2024
  • The 64-year-old will finish out his contract with Los Blancos and take over the Selecao at Copa America 2024
  • Meanwhile, Fluminese boss Fernando Diniz will serve as interim boss for the five-time world champions

Carlo Ancelotti, the current manager of Real Madrid, has been chosen to lead the Brazilian national team as coach for the upcoming Copa America, which will take place in the United States next summer.

This announcement was confirmed by Ednaldo Rodrigues, the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, who also appointed Fluminense's Fernando Diniz as the interim coach for the next 12 months.

"His [Diniz] game plan is almost similar to that of the coach that will take over at Copa America, Ancelotti," Rodrigues said as quoted by GOAL.
"We don't call him an interim coach of the national team. He will come and make the transition in Brazil for Ancelotti."

Ancelotti will have the responsibility of guiding Brazil towards their sixth World Cup triumph, a feat that would solidify his status as one of the greatest head coaches in history.

Carlo Ancelotti's national team history

Ancelotti's closest involvement with a national team occurred from 1992 to 1995 when he served as an assistant under the renowned Italy manager Arrigo Sacchi, MARCA reports.

Since then, the 64-year-old has established himself as a prominent figure in club football, achieving the remarkable feat of becoming the first manager to win all five of Europe's top five leagues.

Furthermore, Ancelotti holds an enviable distinction as the most decorated manager in the history of the European Cup/Champions League, having claimed the prestigious trophy four times. He achieved this feat twice with Real Madrid and twice with AC Milan.

Rodrygo wants Ancelotti at Brazil

Sports Brief also reported that Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes admitted that he would be happy for Carlo Ancelotti to come with him on international breaks.

Ancelotti has been the subject of speculation since late December, with Brazil’s Football Confederation making it very clear that he is the man they want to replace Tite.

Ancelotti looks certain to finish his contract with Real Madrid, which runs out in the summer of 2024, and even his own players are talking about his move to Brazil.
