- Neymar cannot seem to be far from controversy
- The Brazilian has had his latest construction work shut down following social media complaints
- The PSG star has been fined for his latest construction
Brazil and PSG forward Neymar Jr. was handed a hefty fine on Monday after local authorities found that his sprawling beach house violated environmental rules.
Neymar was fined 16 million Brazilian Reais which equates to about $3.33 million for illegally building an artificial lake on his property.
The mansion, estimated to be worth millions, is located in the coastal town of Mangaratiba on the south coast of Rio de Janeiro state in Brazil.
It was previously revealed that the PSG star was the subject of an investigation by the local council on 22 June in Mangaratiba as a result of several irregularities in a lavish construction project.
Work was brought to a halt at that time, with Neymar now paying the price for failing to follow planning rules and allowing building activities to take place without the relevant licenses.
Environmental rules violated by Neymar
A statement from the council concerned as quoted by Goal says four fines have been issued for environmental violations in the construction of an artificial lake at the player's mansion.
It goes on to say that dozens of infractions have been detected and point out that Neymar is carrying out work subject to environmental control without authorization and has overseen the removal of land and suppression of vegetation without authorization as well as capturing and diverting a water source without the relevant documentation.
Authorities cordoned off the site last month and ordered all activity to cease, but DW news reported that Neymar threw a party there and bathed in the lake.

Neymar jeopardises Premier League future
Sports Brief earlier reported that Brazilian star Neymar might have jeopardised his chances to secure a potential Premier League move.
This comes after the PSG man urged fans to secure tickets for a Cruise Ship party which would span for over 72 hours during the festive, which is usually a busy time for Premier League clubs.
It remains to be seen if Premier League clubs interested in the forward would look past this and go ahead with signing the PSG number 10.
