Barcelona legend, Andres Iniesta has no qualms with Lionel Messi’s decision not to rejoin Barcelona this summer, despite the option being on the cards for the Argentina superstar.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner had held talks with Barcelona president, Joan Laporta about a possible return to Camp Nou before deciding against it to sign for Inter Miami in the United States.
According to Barca Universal, Iniesta revealed that it would have been nice if Messi had returned to Barcelona, but the Argentine did what he felt was the best for him.
“It would have been nice, special for what it means, but in the end, and everyone looks for the best option, what they think will be good for them and, from there, they will probably live a different experience to what they have lived before.”
Messi spent 17 successful seasons with Barcelona before leaving in acrimonious circumstances in 2021 to join Paris Saint-Germain when the club failed to renew his contract.

Meanwhile, David Beckham has revealed that signing Lionel Messi to Inter Miami was part of the commitment he made to the club to bring the best players from across the world to the MLS, Goal reports.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner stunned the footballing world when announcing that he will be moving to the MLS as a free agent after reaching the end of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
Beckham is a major Inter Miami shareholder and played a crucial role in putting the deal in place to sign Messi.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Inter Miami co-owner, Jorge Mas, has opened up on the details of Lionel Messi’s transfer to the Major League Soccer franchise, admitting he was on the club's radar for some time.
Messi has joined the Miami-based side, also co-owned by David Beckham, after choosing not to renew his Paris Saint-Germain contract after two years in the French capital.
He shockingly left Barcelona in 2021 after La Blaugrana were unable to register his new contract due to financial constraints, and turned down a chance to make a fairytale return.
