FootballMauricio Pochettino: Chelsea Boss Arrives at Cobham in Mercedes-Benz SUV for First Day of Work
- Pochettino was announced as the new Chelsea boss last month after weeks of an extensive search
- The former Tottenham boss signed a two-year contract with a club option of a further year
- He officially began work on July 1 and arrived at the club’s training centre at Cobham this morning
Chelsea's new boss Mauricio Pochettino has officially reported for duty at the club’s training complex at Cobham, Surrey, London, this morning for the first day of work.
The Blues hired the former Tottenham boss last month but could not officially begin work until July 1 due to a clause in his contract when he left Paris Saint-Germain.
He takes over the ruins created at the club, which saw four managers oversee at least a game at Stamford Bridge last season, including Bruno Saltor, who managed the 0-0 draw against Liverpool.
Goal revealed that Todd Boehly shelled out £13m to fire Graham Potter who had a five-year contract and took measures to avoid the same mistake with Poch by handing him a short contract.
Pochettino resumes at Cobham
The Argentine made his long-awaited appearance at the club’s training ground at Cobham this morning, as spotted in a video shared on Chelsea's social media pages.
He arrived in a Mercedes-Benz SUV and exchanged quick pleasantries with some faces around before heading into the offices, where he is expected to be acclimated to his new environment.
The players are expected to resume tomorrow and go through a rigorous two-week fitness regime popularly called the Gacon test - an intermittent shuttle run exercise before heading out for a pre-season tour in the USA, as Sun Sport reports.
New faces Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson will team up with the team tomorrow, while Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Levi Colwill will join after their U21 Euro engagement with Ukraine and England.
