FootballRanga Chivaviro Denies Knowledge of Signing for Kaizer Chiefs or Richards Bay
- Ranga Chivaviro has denied any knowledge of signing for either Kaizer Chiefs or Richards Bay
- Marumo Gallants confirmed that Chivaviro would be moving to Chiefs after an agreement was reached
- Richards Bay claimed that the attacker was theirs after they signed a pre-contract with him in January
The transfer window is known to serve up some big moves for players, but it’s not often that the players themselves are unaware of their own transfers.
That’s the situation that Marumo Gallants' striker Ranga Chivaviro finds himself in.
The attacker, who bagged 17 goals in all competitions last season, was hot property, especially once Gallants were relegated from the DStv Premiership.
As noted by The Citizen, Richards Bay boss Sifiso “Jomo” Biyela claimed they had signed a pre-contract with the player, and anyone wanting him would have to sign him from them.
That didn’t stop Gallants from later announcing that the in-form striker had joined Kaizer Chiefs.
That news didn’t sit well with Richards Bay, who once again claimed that Chivaviro was their player.
Chivaviro claims ignorance
Times LIVE recently contacted the player about his transfer situation, but even he didn’t know what was happening.
“I don’t know all of that. I’m just like you; I only saw that statement yesterday (Friday, June 30),” he said when asked about the links with Chiefs and Richards Bay.
Richards Bay and Chiefs’ claims
When discussing the matter, Biyela confirmed that the club had proof they signed the player and would unveil him soon.
“We have signed him for two years with an option. We will wait for the club to unveil him, and then we will follow protocol,” Biyela said.
While Chiefs haven’t officially announced his signing from their side, the player has been spotted training at the Naturena.

FootballChivaviro could dethrone Peter Shalulile
Sports Brief earlier reported how Peter Shalulile’s time at the top of the goal-scoring charts was threatened.
Five players, including Marumo Gallants' Ranga Chivaviro, had the chance to beat the Namibian on the season's final day.
Chivaviro scored 10 goals in the DStv Premiership, but Gallants were still relegated.
