Liverpool are set to acquire a unique talent if they complete the deal to sign Hungary international Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Leipzig star is on the verge of becoming a Liverpool player, with reports on Saturday, July 1, indicating the Reds have activated his release clause, which stood at €70 million.

This will likely end speculation surrounding Szoboszlai’s future, as Newcastle were also tentatively monitoring the midfielder’s situation.

The Hungary captain will be Liverpool’s second summer acquisition after the Reds secured the services of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Szoboszlai, the penalty specialist

Amid links to Liverpool, a video recently emerged on Twitter showing one of the 22-year-old’s key strengths - penalties.

The midfielder has an impeccable record from the penalty spot. According to Transfermkt, he has only missed one of 16 penalties he has taken in his career, which was against Bayer Leverkusen in 2021.

From the compilation video, Szoboszlai has a favourite side to place the ball, but despite goalkeepers knowing this all too well, he always seems to find the back of the net.

His combination of placement and power usually gives goalkeepers no chance of saving his kicks.

At the moment, Salah is Liverpool’s primary penalty taker, but that could change as the Egyptian had a worrying record last season, missing spot kicks against Bournemouth and Arsenal.
