Paris Saint-Germain manager, Christophe Galtier has been detained in France in connection with an inquiry into claims of discrimination at OGC Nice.
The 56-year-old coach, who led PSG to the Ligue 1 title last season, and his son, John Valovic-Galtier, have been summoned by the lead investigators in the case.
According to ESPN, a leaked email from the former Nice director of football, Julien Fournier to the club's owners was published by the French media. In it, he accused Galtier of saying there were too many black and Muslim players in the squad.
Searches have been carried out at the headquarters of Ligue 1 side Nice as part of the investigation. Some players and prominent figures off the pitch – including club president, Jean-Pierre Rivere – have been interviewed within that process.
French authorities have 24 hours in which to formalise charges and arrest those concerned, including Galtier, or release them.
Galtier maintains his innocence
Meanwhile, Galtier has denied with great firmness the claims of discrimination levelled against him following his arrest, Goal reports.
Galtier was accused in April of using derogatory, racist, and insulting comments about Muslim players when he was at Nice, leading to him being detained by the authorities.
The PSG manager has revealed that he will take legal action against those who are damaging his reputation after he released a statement through his lawyers that maintained his innocence.
Galtier set for PSG exits
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Galtier will not be in line for a second season in the French capital, as the Paris Saint-Germain hierarchy seemed to be unimpressed with his first season in charge.
