Mesut Ozil: Unai Emery reveals decision to exile midfielder from Arsenal squad was agreed with club's top brass
- Mesut Ozil has started just one Premier League match for Arsenal since the start of the new season
- His continued absence from first team action has elicited speculation the midfielder could be headed for the exits
- Emery has however come out to defend his decision to freeze the playmaker out of the squad
Arsenal boss Unai Emery has revealed the decision to exile Mesut Ozil from the squad was not only his, but one reached together with the club's top hierarchy.
Ozil, who is currently Arsenal's top earner has been limited to just one start in the Premier League and another in the League Cup, throwing his future at the Emirates under sharp speculation.

Bizarrely, the German playmaker has not even made the team's substitute bench in Arsenal's last five matches despite passing match fitness.
His continued absence from team action has aggravated speculation the 31-year-old may not be part of Emery's future plans, even as the Spaniard continues rebuilding of the club.

But the decision to freeze the midfielder out of the team has not gone down well with a section of fans, given the team has been struggling for results and consistency in recent weeks.
Emery has however come out to defend the move, insisting it was a resolution reached alongside the higher-ups at the Emirates.
