Kaizer Chiefs have appointed a new manager to take charge of the side effective immediately, but it’s not the name everyone was expecting.
The Amakhosi have been linked with a move for Tunisian coach Mohamed Nasreddine Nabi but instead have decided to go the local route.
Nabi even confirmed that he was in talks with the Soweto-based side over the managerial post and was looking forward to the challenge.
As noted by Times LIVE, the Soweto-based club has appointed Molefi Ntseki as their new manager. Ntseki will replace Arthur Zwane as manager, with 10111 returning to an assistant coaching role with Dillon Sheppard.
The club announced the move on social media, a decision which came as a shock to many.
The club congratulated Ntseki on his appointment on their website, with Dr Kaizer Motaung leading the praise for the former national team coach.
“We would like to congratulate Coach Ntseki and thank him for accepting this huge responsibility. We know it’s not an easy task, but we believe his experience and knowledge will help us improve and achieve our goals as Kaizer Chiefs,” Motaung said.
Ntseki himself said that he was ready for the tremendous responsibility that the club have tasked him with and that he was looking forward to bringing joy to the millions of Amakhosi supporters worldwide.
Who is Molefi Ntseki?
As reported by the South African Football Association, Ntseke is a former interim manager of Bafana Bafana.
He started out as the head coach for Welkom Stars and even served as an assistant coach at Bloemfontein Celtic for a time.

Zwane happy to assist coach
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Arthur Zwane was open to working with another coach at Kaizer Chiefs.
10111 was in charge of the Amakhosi last season, but the side finished in fifth in the DStv Premiership and lost a record 12 games.
With his future in doubt, it was reported that Zwane was happy to assist a new manager, as he only wanted what was best for the club.
