  • Kai Havertz’s first interview in Arsenal colours has emerged online
  • The German praised Arsenal for their ‘family’ mentality as he explained his reasons for joining the club
  • Chelsea and Arsenal have reportedly agreed on a fee of around £65 million

An interesting video of Kai Havertz taking on an interview in Arsenal colours has emerged on social media, although the transfer is yet to be made official.

Havertz is all but an Arsenal player after the Gunners agreed to pay Chelsea £65 million for the German’s services.

The 27-year-old completed his first medical over the weekend, pending an official announcement from both clubs.

Multiple reports suggest he will be handed the Number 29 shirt in the coming months, and in the ‘leaked’ interview, he described the shirt number as perfect.

“I’ve had it now for many years. I chose it when I became a professional in Germany. Since then it has always given me luck,” Havertz said in the interview as quoted on SportBible.
“You know, when I became professional I took it because it has some history with my brother. We used to take it always when we played some video games together.
“So since then I just took it, and for me, I think it’s the perfect number and I love to wear it in a red shirt again.”

The former Bayer Leverkusen man also opened up on his reasons behind joining Arsenal, as he praised the club for its rich history.

“This club has such a big history and I hope we can achieve lots of things. I'm looking forward to meeting the players and staff, it's going to be exciting,” he went on.
"You can see the family mentality the team has on the pitch and I guess they have it off the pitch as well.

Arsenal fans will undoubtedly relish having the attacking midfielder in the team, and Arteta also admitted in an interview on Monday, June 26 that ‘talent has a price’.

The Gunners will now focus on Declan Rice as West Ham continues to weigh their options amid a bidding war between Arsenal and Manchester City.

The latest reports from The Athletic suggest Arsenal have submitted an improved offer of £105m for the midfielder, but West Ham want at least £110m.

Sports Brief also reported on an interesting theory by Eni Aluko on how Manchester City were aiding Arsenal acquire Declan Rice.

The talented West Ham midfielder is certain to leave the Hammers this summer, with Arsenal and Manchester City involved in a tussle for his services.

On Tuesday, June 27, the Citizens submitted a £90m bid for Rice - an amount that West Ham immediately rejected.
