According to talkSPORT, the English forward has remained suspended by the club since January 2022 after he was arrested on suspicion of assault and other charges.

While all the charges he was facing have since been dropped, the forward remains the subject of an internal investigation.

Despite his tribulations, there has been speculation over a return to the pitch for the England international.

However, it remains unclear if he will do this with Manchester United, where he is contracted until 2025.

Greenwood's shirts dropped from kit launch

In a fresh twist of events surrounding Greenwood's future, United have dropped the youngster's shirts from their kit launch, suggesting he may not be a part of the team next season.

The Sun reports that supporters will not be able to get a shirt with Greenwood's name on the back after it was omitted from the launch.

The publication claims that all other names from the senior men's and women's sides are available, but Greenwood is not included.

It is believed that United’s current owners are yet to decide the future of the United Academy graduate.

Background story to Greenwood's issues

Sports Brief has previously reported that Mason Greenwood's downward spiral has to be one of the most heartbreaking stories of modern-day football, depending on who you ask.

The striker was on an inspiring ascendancy in his Manchester United career when he got entangled in assault charges that saw him arrested and prosecuted before the charges were eventually dropped.

To the eyes of many others, the videos and pictures that went online believed to be from the assault incident tainted Greenwood's image. He might be free from court proceedings, but the court of public opinion is yet to move and therein lies United's greatest challenge.
