Mesut Ozil: Arsenal star wears new hairstyle after losing bet

Mesut Ozil has left everyone stunned while on Arsenal's pre-season tour of America after debuting a new bleach blonde hairstyle.

Earlier in the week, Arsenal trounced Colorado Rapids 3-0 in their first warm-up game of the summer, with Ozil playing only the last 12 minutes of the game after Unai Emery settled for youngsters.

Presumably with so much time on his hands, the prolific midfielder went all out to alter his look drastically.

The former Real Madrid playmaker has decided to become a blonde, leaving everyone confused - including his own teammates.

Photos of Ozil’s new look have spread on social media, and the jokes have followed, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leading the banter brigade.

Aubameyang joked Ozil now has a striking resemblance with Megan Rapinoe who bagged the Golden Boot as she helped the US Women national team to World Cup glory in France.

However, Arsenal fans were less kind to their star man owing to the player's arguably below par performances last season.

One posted: “Maybe we'll know when he's playing or not now.”

“He also gone missing,” another joked. “Only thing his done for the past two years,” one said.

“Still going to go missing in big games,” another posted.

One fan joked: “Only thing that could make him noticeable on the field.”

Ozil revealed that he dyed his hair because of an agreement with Alexandre Lacazette.

When asked what he was thought of his new look, Ozil said: "I lost a bet."

"We lost a bet against Laca. Me, Sead [Kolasinac] and Shkodran Mustafi all lost together," he summed up.
