  • Chelsea withdrew their interest in Andre Onana to put Manchester United in pole position
  • Inter Milan named an asking price of €50 million to sell the Cameroonian to the Red Devils
  • The Nerrazzuri are hoping to secure the permanent signing of Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea

Chelsea could benefit from the domino effect of Manchester United splashing the cash on Inter Milan goalkeeper, Andre Onana.

The Blues were interested in the Cameroonian goalkeeper but withdrew their interest due to Inter’s asking price, instead focusing on other targets.

Romelu Lukaku has been a thorn in Chelsea’s flesh since the infamous interview in December 2021, which led to a fallout with former manager, Thomas Tuchel.

He spent the last season on loan back with the Nerrazzuri, but the London club are unwilling to entertain another loan and want to end the debacle once and for all with a permanent move.

United to help Chelsea’s clearout

Mirror UK reports that the West Londoners have demanded €40 million to part ways with the striker permanently and end a chaotic relationship in his second spell at the club.

The Milan club are unable to afford the transfer and have demanded a loan with an obligation to buy for €30mil at the end of next season, which the English club are considering.

Man United’s pursuit of Onana could benefit their rivals. Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Red Devils are willing to meet the asking price of €50mil for the goalkeeper.

The funds will be aimed at funding the transfer for Lukaku, who has consistently reiterated his desire to remain at Inter and who even turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia, who have snapped up four other Chelsea players.

Chelsea set conditions for Lukaku

Sports Brief reported that Chelsea set brutal conditions for Lukaku to depart Stamford Bridge and rejoin his former club Inter Milan, after paying £97mil for their former player in the summer of 2021.

There has been an unending quarrel between the two since then, and despite a change of ownership and manager, he is unwilling to return to England. However, the Blues will not he held to ransom.
