- Issahaku was immense as Ghana beat Congo in the AFCON Under-23 opener
Black Meteors midfielder, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, has been trending since Ghana's AFCON U23 opener against Congo on Sunday, after producing one of his trademark strikes.
The Sporting Lisbon player almost scored from his own half after spotting the Congo goalkeeper off his line, only to be denied by the crossbar.
Issahaku played a key role as the Black Meteors secured an opening day victory at the Africa U23 Cup of Nations currently ongoing in Morocco.
In a video which has since gone viral on social media, Issahaku - who was close to the centre circle - hit the ball right away but the opposition goalkeeper was saved by his post.
Issahaku started the move that resulted in Ghana's opener after finding second-half substitute, Emmanuel Yeboah, who rolled the ball to Ernest Nuamah before the Nordsjaelland ace fired home.
Yeboah then scored a brace from the spot to give Ghana a three-goal lead before the 90th minute.
However, the Congolese team stunned the Black Meteors late into the game, scoring two goals in a minute as Reich Kokolo and Yann Ngatse netted in quick succession.
The Black Meteors will face host nation, Morocco, on Tuesday in their second group game, with a place in the semi-final of the African elite competition at stake.
Black Meteors beat Congo
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana's U23 team, the Black Meteors have won their opener at the Africa U23 Cup of Nations after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Congo.
Having led the game by three goals to nil until the 90th minute, the Ghanaians were given a late scare as the Congolese side scored twice in a minute to make it close.
Following a barren first half, the Black Meteors raced into the lead just five minutes after the break following a brilliant play which saw Nuamah capitalise with the score.
