Manchester United are reportedly closing in on their first transfer of the summer window in the shape of Watford wonderkid, Harry Amass.

Their encouraging finish is expected to have the club participate actively in the transfer market, with ten Hag keen to sign a number of players to strengthen his squad.

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is believed to be top on United's transfer shortlist but they have been unable to match the Blues' asking price for the Englishman.

Amass set for United move

Reports now claim that Watford ace Amass could become United's first piece of transfer business this summer.

According to The Mirror, the Red Devils have been considering a move for the 16-year-old fullback for some time and appear to be inching closer to securing his signature.

The publication claims that the teenage ace is considered one of the brightest young talents in the English game right now, and United are willing to do everything within their means to snap him up.

Manchester Evening News reports that Amass's proposed move to Man United is all but done, with the teenage star expected to link up with the academy team as he continues his development.

Ten Hag identifies Mount alternatives

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag has reportedly handed the club a four-man shortlist of players he wants to be signed this summer as Mason Mount's alternative.

United are expected to back the Dutchman in the transfer window as he bids to strengthen the squad in preparation for next season.

The Red Devils had widely been linked with a move for Chelsea ace Mount but were unsuccessful in their third bid for the midfielder.
