Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez share a special relationship, which was evident in the Uruguayan’s special birthday wish to the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Messi celebrated his 36th birthday on June 24 and was eulogised with a special family photo by his partner, Antonela Roccuzzo, to which Suarez offered a cheeky response.

According to Sportskeeda, the former Liverpool and Barcelona star commented under the post on Instagram, joking that Messi is getting into his senior years.

His comment was translated as follows:

"Happy birthday, former child 😂 You have entered old age 🎂🎁 Big hug and enjoy your day, friend ❤️"

Suarez lifted 13 trophies during his six-year stint at Camp Nou, including a treble in the 2014-15 season while playing alongside Messi at Barcelona.

Messi confirms vacation plans

Meanwhile, Messi has confirmed he will take a few days off to kickstart his vacation before heading to America to join his new club Inter Miami, Goal reports.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner returned to his old club, Newell's Old Boys, on his 36th birthday for a testimonial for his former national teammate, Maxi Rodriguez.

Messi also took part in a farewell match for Juan Roman Riquelme at La Bombonera where he featured in a tie between Argentina XI and a Boca Juniors XI.

Messi delighted with Inter Miami

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Messi discussing his Inter Miami debut, revealing he was excited at a new phase of his career after ending a glorious time in Europe.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner was in his home country to honour Argentine legend, Riquelme, who said farewell as Argentina XI took on Boca Juniors XI.

Messi, who spoke to the crowd that had turned out in their numbers for the game, revealed what the new phase of his career away from Europe truly meant to him.
