Ghana U23 coach, Ibrahim Tanko was left livid after his side conceded two late goals in the 3-2 win against Congo in their group opener at the Africa U23 Cup of Nations.
Leading the game 3-0 till the 90th minute, the Black Meteors were stunned as the Congolese scored twice in a minute to provide a nervy finish to the match.
Despite collecting all three points, Tanko was not happy with the attitude of his players at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium on Sunday.
“I am happy we won but I am very angry about my players and to concede two goals after 90 minutes is unacceptable. We have a day to prepare for the next match," said Tanko in the post-match interview, as quoted by Ghanafa.org.
“Congo did very well. We started well in the first 20 minutes but they dominated the rest of the first half. We brought on two substitutes and got our goals but we are not happy about the two goals we conceded," he added.
“Some of the players showed tiredness and I was not happy with the body language of some of the substitutes. We will address these things and we hope that the next game will be better."
The Black Meteors lead Group A after the first round of games at the AFCON U23 currently ongoing in Morocco.
The West African giants will next face hosts Morocco, with a place in the semi-final of the competition at stake, as reported by Ghanasoccernet.
“Both teams won our opening games so we are going to prepare well and ensure that we get good results," said the coach.
