Katsina United managed a 1-0 win over Kano Pillars at the ongoing Naija Super 8 qualifiers at the Eket Township Stadium, Akwa Ibom State.
It was a fight to finish on Sunday afternoon, but Samson Olasofo scored the lone goal, giving his side all three points against the Sai Masu Gida.
The crucial goal came six minutes before regulation time after the forward tucked home from close range.
Following the victory, Katsina United joined Enyimba, Remo Stars, Lobi Stars and Yobe Desert Stars in the finals, Complete Sports reports.
Later on Sunday, Bendel Insurance will trade tackles with Rivers United for another slot in the next phase.
While expressing their delight, the clubs also thanked their fans, whose votes earned them slots in the tournament play-offs scheduled to hold at the Eket Township Stadium, Akwa Ibom State, from June 23-25.
The Naija Super 8 finals will run from July 7 to July 16. All the matches will be played at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
All the qualified teams will earn N9million each.
The four semi-finalists will get an additional N3million, while the finalists will receive another N9million. The overall winner will take home the N25million prize money.
Enyimba emerge NPFL champions
Sports Brief earlier reported that Enyimba Football Club are champions of 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League season following their 1-1 draw against Rivers United on Sunday, June 11.
It was the final match of the Super 6 competition in Lagos, and the People's Elephants battled hard to claim the prestigious title for the ninth time in their history.
For finishing top, the team - coached by Super Eagles legend Finidi George - won the giant trophy, N100 million and a ticket to the CAF Champions League.
