Ajax star Jurrien Timber has hinted he is close to sealing a sensational summer transfer move to Arsenal.

The Dutchman was initially billed to reunite with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, but he turned his back on the Premier League giants.

According to the Mirror, turned down a move to Old Trafford last summer on the understanding he would be allowed to seal a switch to the English top flight this year.

It is believed that Ajax were keen to retain the services of Timber after losing both Ten Hag and Brazilian winger Antony to United.

The Netherlands head coach Louis van Gaal also played a central role in the defender rejecting the Red Devils, with the experienced tactician publicly warning him against moving to the Theatre of Dreams.

Timber wants Arsenal move

However, it seems the 22-year–old has set his sights on finally moving to the Premier League.

Reports claim the youngster believes he has a verbal agreement with Ajax that will allow him to join Arsenal this summer.

Football London claims Timber is on Mikel Arteta's transfer wishlist, with the Spaniard keen to reinforce his squad.

However, the Gunners will have to contend with competition from Bayern Munich, who are looking to sign the Dutch international.

Nketiah ready to quit Arsenal

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Arsenal youngster Eddie Nketiah is reportedly reconsidering his future at the club ahead of the imminent arrival of Kai Havertz.

Havertz is believed to be on the verge of sealing a sensational summer move to the Emirates Stadium.

However, it seems Havertz's potential arrival at Arsenal could greatly impact the squad, with reports claiming Nketiah could depart if the Chelsea star seals the transfer.

Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Fulham are among the clubs that could sign Nketiah.
