Football fraternities around the world have taken to social media on Saturday morning, June 24, to celebrate Argentina international Lionel Messi who turned 36 and hailed him for his incredible career so far.

There is no doubt about the fact that Messi is one of the footballers who turned the game around positively and he also made the sport gain more followership in many parts of the world.

A prolific goalscorer and creative playmaker, Messi holds the records for most goals in La Liga (474), most hat-tricks in La Liga (36) and the UEFA Champions League (eight), and most assists in La Liga (192) and the Copa América (17).

Messi was born in Rosario, Santa Fe, the third of four children of Jorge Messi, a steel factory manager, and his wife Celia Cuccittini, who worked in a magnet manufacturing workshop.

How Messi started his career

Messi started his football career in 1992 at Grandoli and he spent three years there before moving to Newell's Old Boys. He joined Barcelona Academy in 2000 and that was where his star was seen by the world.

The Argentine later broke into Barcelona's first team and went on to captain the side winning 34 titles at the Nou Camp according to the reports on Goal and Sporting News.
