N’Golo Kante has officially sealed a lucrative move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad which will earn him €100m over the length of his four-year contract.
Kante left Chelsea after seven successful years, where he won all trophies possible, bar the Carabao Cup. He was a vital member of the 2021 UEFA Champions League-winning squad.
He left on a free transfer after his deal at Stamford Bridge expired, and an agreement over a new one could not be reached, majorly due to his injury-ladened season in which he played less than 10 games.
France24 reported that the deal was initially delayed due to a medical issue, as the 32-year-old has a long history of hamstring and knee injuries, and a proper check was required.
Kante’s earnings in Saudi Arabia
The former Leicester City midfielder will earn a whopping €25m per season, more than the €6m the Blues were willing to offer him for renewal.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner with France will have his image and commercial rights accounted into his salary package as he teams up with compatriot, Karim Benzema.
According to Bolavip, his salary breakdown includes about €2.5m per month, which is over €480,000 per week. He will earn over €12,700 per day and about €200 per minute.
90min notes that these earnings are still way below that of his new teammate, Benzema and Al-Nassr star, Cristiano Ronaldo, both of whom are earning over €200m per year.
