FootballLucas Moura Encourages Neymar to Make Bold Switch if Dissatisfied With PSG
- Neymar Jr.’s future at PSG remains unsettled ahead of the new football season
- The forward is linked with a move away from the French capital
- Lucas Moura has weighed in on his Brazilian teammate’s future
Tottenham Hotspur forward, Lucas Moura has advised international teammate, Neymar Jr. to move to the Premier League if the former Barcelona player is unhappy at his current club Paris Saint-Germain.
Moura, who left PSG for Tottenham in January 2018 after he was deemed surplus to requirements, was questioned about the future of a current PSG player – Neymar.
Speaking to L’Equipe, Moura said:
“It depends on him and what he wants, what he wants in his career.
“It depends on how he feels in Paris, at the club, if he’s happy with his teammates, if he likes Ligue 1 but if he is thinking of leaving PSG, and if he is no longer happy there, then I’d advise him to go to play in the Premier League.
“It’s the highest and most exciting league.”
Moura is expected to leave Tottenham upon the expiration of his contract. The Brazilian forward is reported by BBC to be eyeing a move to league rivals Newcastle United.
Neymar’s Future at PSG
The former Barcelona man’s future at PSG remains unclear. It was expected that he would leave this summer, however, the arrival of Luis Enrique as the club’s new manager could influence his and PSG’s decision. Enrique worked with Neymar at Barcelona.
Neymar’s current contract with PSG expires in 2025, but the deal includes an option for a further year. The Brazilian hasn’t played since February and underwent surgery on 10th March.
He is expected to return to training next month ahead of the start of the 2023/24 season.
Enrique’s PSG move, Neymar’s future
Sports Brief earlier reported Luis Enrique would like his say on recruitment at PSG this summer. Additionally, it’s not sure that he will validate a departure from Neymar, who is under contract until 2025.
If there’s a manager that can get the best out of Neymar at this stage in his career, it’s likely the 53-year-old. Furthermore, Enrique reportedly sees himself in Paris building a long-term project and not coming for a short stay.
