It is amazing that footballers also own some bizarre world records after attempting to accomplish something unique.

Although Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have dominated most of these records, other players - even goalkeepers - have also achieved something special.

4. David Seaman - highest football catch

On December 6, 2020, former England goalkeeper, David Seaman, entered the Guinness World Record for the highest catch of a football. He achieved such a feat at the Wembley Stadium in London. He is a joint holder of this unique record as rugby superstar, Gavin Henson, also pulled off the same feat at the same event.

3. Sebastian Abreu - most professional teams

Abreu played for a staggering 31 clubs before he retired from professional football. The former Uruguayan international is in the Guinness World Records for this reason, ESPN reports.

He featured for clubs like Beitar Jerusalem, River Plate, Real Sociedad, Aris, Botafogo and a host of others. Abreu was also a member of the Uruguayan squad during the 2002 FIFA World Cup, where he played three matches.

He told Guinness World Records at the time:

"Honestly, I was never trying to break a Guinness World Records title, but the record has made me very happy."

2. Jamie Redknapp - highest altitude control

Despite the fact that his footballing career was plagued by several injuries, former Liverpool star, Jamie Redknapp, is still in the Guinness World Records book.

In 2021, he attempted a football-related record when he successfully broke Theo Walcott's 'highest altitude football dropped and controlled' record, setting a new number to beat with an attempt from a height of 38.92 m (127 ft 8 in).

1 Iker Casillas - most halfway goals

Three beautiful Guinness World Records can be seen hanging on Iker Casillas's walls. In July 2011, the Spanish legend set the record for the most football goals scored from the halfway line in one minute in Beijing, China.

Casillas found the net 11 times in one minute, directly from the midfield and to date, no one has broken that record.

GWR honours Cristiano Ronaldo

Sports Brief also reported that Cristiano Ronaldo's extraordinary achievement of 200 international caps for Portugal was recognised by Guinness World Records.

The Al-Nassr superstar and captain accomplished this remarkable feat during Portugal's Euro 2024 qualifying match against Iceland on Tuesday, June 20.

As a tribute to his historic accomplishment, he was presented with an official certificate by Guinness World Records, thus recognising Ronaldo as a record holder.
