He joins a host of other Jamaicans in the Premier League as Sports Brief looks at the top 5 who were named in the squad for the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

1. Demarai Gray

The Athletic reported that the 2016 Premier League winner with Leicester switch was completed in time to make the Reggae Boyz squad. His passport arrived in England last week and will link up with the team for the North American continental tournament.

2. Michail Antonio

West Ham forward Antonio nursed the ambition of playing for England for five years before eventually accepting Jamaica’s invitation in 2021. The 33-year-old links up with the squad on the back of a successful campaign in which he won the UEFA Europa Conference League.

3. Leon Bailey

The former Bayer Leverkusen star was born in Kingston, Jamaica and played for the U23 before making his senior debut in 2019. He was part of the Aston Villa squad that overturned a poor season and qualified for the Europa Conference League next season under Unai Emery.

4. Ethan Pinnock

The Brentford tough-tackling defender was born in and represented England C as a non-league player before switching allegiance to Jamaica. According to Squawka, he had the highest tackle in Europe’s top 7 leagues with 214 and the highest success rate in the EPL with 85.2%.

5. Bobby Decordova-Reid

The Fulham attacker was born in England but never represented any youth team. He scored on his senior debut for Jamaica in a 6-0 win against Antigua and Barbuda.

Wolves 19-year-old defender Dexter Lembikisa is the other Premier League contingent to team up with the squad.

Raheem Sterling visits Jamaica

Sports Brief reported that Raheem Sterling visited Jamaica last summer before sealing a £50m move from Manchester City to Chelsea.

The 27-year-old was born in Kingston, the capital, before moving to England at five. He visited in the company of Bailey and Prince William.
