Hakim Ziyech appears to be in a ride-or-die relationship with former Ajax teammate, Quincy Promes, despite recent allegations and convictions of cases in the Netherlands.
Promes and Ziyech played together at the Dutch giants before they were separated by transfers to Russia and Chelsea respectively, but they have remained close ever since.
The Dutch winger is a wanted man in his homeland after he was alleged to have been importing narcotics reportedly weighing 1,370kg and worth £65 million into the country.
Amidst the smuggling case, BBC Sport reports that the 31-year-old was sentenced to 18 months in jail by a Dutch court after stabbing his cousin in the knee at a family event in July 2020.
Ziyech courts controversy
The wantaway Blues star attended an awards ceremony with the embattled player amid the ongoing case and was heavily criticised, but appears unfazed.
His recent actions have called into question once more the level of his relationship with the convicted former Sevilla star after he shared Promes' music video on Instagram.
Ziyech shared a cryptic Instagram post in 2021 when his friend was first accused and the case was brought to light.
According to the Evening Standard, the Moroccan is set to be on his way out of Chelsea in the coming days after all parties agreed to a lucrative move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, where he will team up with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ziyech breaks silence after controversies
Sports Brief reported that Ziyech broke his silence on Instagram after the controversies that arose from his hangout with Promes at an awards ceremony in Russia.
The post suggested he was unbothered and called all the reports around him 'noise'. The post was endorsed by some of his friends and ex-colleagues, including the Dutch winger.
